[nat ] For neighbors in the Petty Acres subdivision... off Plantation road... the scene was a reminder it could happen to anyone. A point driven home for more than an hour-- as fire fighters tried to bring the fire under control but could not seem to win the battle.

The fire started yesterday and flared up for awhile near U-S 41-

The Pulaski County Commonwealth's Attorney says Sergeant J-W Gregory's use of force was quote- appropriate and perhaps even necessary.

Officers say Heath Shoemaker robbed a store on April 30-th, then led them on a chase through both the town of Pulaski and Pulaski County.
At one point, the suspect stopped his car.
When Sergeant Gregory left his vehicle to approach Shoemaker, he stepped on the gas and tried to run him over.


That's when the officer fired a shot at the car, hitting Shoemaker in the left leg and his right shin.

It was apparently the result of an allergy problem that led to infection.

Game two of the Hillcats-Avalanche game last night turned into an easy night at the office for Salem.

Still in the same frame - Garett Atkins pounds one into the right field gap allowing Choo Freeman to jog across the plate - it's 2-to-nothing Salem.

But Cave Spring started pouring on the runs in the bottom of the first inning. Laura Henderson crossed the plate on the wild pitch for the first score.
Still in the first, the Patriots got into trouble, a bases loaded walk brings Tessa Ashwell safely home and the Knights are up three to nothing.

The Atlanta Falcons have scheduled a 10:30 news conference for this morning to announce the signing of Michael Vick to his first pro contract.

Vick , who impressed the Atlanta coaches with his quick release and speed during rookie mini-camp this past season will reportedly get a 6 year deal worth as much as $62 million bucks. Three million will come to Vick as a signing bonus and he is guaranteed $15 million over the first three years of the contract. With numbers like that it's hard to argue that he should have stayed in Blacksburg.
