Franklin County's School Board unanimously passed a resolution seeking a 2-point-8 million dollar bond referendum today.
The money would pay for athletic and recreation projects at the high school and middle school, including a field house, tennis courts, and stadium seats for the football stadium.
The school board also voted to cut 700-thousand dollars from its budget because of the state budget impasse.
As a result, there will be no personnel increase and no new textbooks purchased for grades 6 through 12.

((A lot of these patients are fighting AIDS, cancer and other diseases. Now they're ready to fight the federal government to keep these 'medical marijuana clubs' open.

"Although some referred to them as 'clubs,' they were more like doctor's offices. And one that ..if you didn't know what you were looking for ..you wouldn't even know it was there."
California voters approved Proposition 215 five years ago. It allowed doctors to prescribe marijuana to control the pain from cancer and other diseases. At this club in Los Angeles ..you had to have a membership
card AND a note from your doctor. But three years ago the Justice Department sued the clubs ..saying distributing pot is against the law.
"Proposition 215 does not allow for storefront operations. And they don't even have to be storefront. It could be back room and still be illegal."
Voters in several states are considering medical marijuana laws. Opponents say there's no proof it works any better than legal drugs.
Supporters say the drug eases side effects from chemotherapy and saves AIDS patients from wasting away. They attacked the court's decision.

52-year-old Tom Green is charged with four counts of bigamy and one count of criminal non-support.
He's the father to some 25 children by several different women and he's currently married to 5 women.
Green claims religious persecution by the state of Utah and the Mormon Church- even though Mormons abandoned the practice of polygamy 100 years ago.
Green also faces separate child rape charges because he began a relationship with one of his wives when she was only 13.

The Blacksburg soccer team came into last night's Blue Ridge District game against Salem riding a 64 game win streak and, they had not lost a game in 78 outings.
