That could be bad news for Roanoke.

The Holidaysburg Pennsylvania Carshops are supposed to close on September 1st.
But the Surface Transportation Board is asking N-S for reasons why the shops should close -- mainly because the railroad claimed the shops would stay open after it merged with Conrail.
At a meeting in Norfolk two weeks ago, N-S President David Goode said there is no way the Pennsylvania shops will stay open.

Some students at Danville Community College will be hitting more than just the books next year.

Yesterday the college announced plans to start a baseball team known as the "DCC Knights."
The team will play other two-and four-year colleges beginning next spring.
Some 20-25 students will be recruited and college officials hope to find a lot of the players in their own backyard.

Players will not lose their eligibility to play at four year colleges or universities because the team will be a club sport.
The college plans to begin the process of hiring a coach right away.
The DCC Knights will play at Dan Daniel Park's American Legion Field and the Market Garden Field.

He led the sixers to the Eastern Conference best 56 and 26 regular season mark. And it's the first time Brown has received the award in his 18 year N-B-A coaching Career.

A change of attitude has led the Roanoke Steam to its first winning streak.

Roanoke won its second straight game last Fridays. Both wins came against the Charleston Swamp Foxes.
Earlier this month Coach Steve Jerry added 10 new players to the roster.
The influx of new talent has added more than a new look to the team.

That's when one and six Rochester comes to town.
The Brigade's only win was 49-31 game against Roanoke on April 13th.
