About twenty managers at Lynchburg's Com-Net Ericsson plant are out of a job.
Last week the company was acquired by M/A-Com (MAY-com), a Massachusetts- based wireless communications firm.
A company spokesperson says the merger created duplicate positions, requiring the layoffs.
Com-Net Ericsson still employs about 650 people at its central Virginia plant.

Roanoke police have charged a 15-year-old girl with shooting a teenage boy two months ago.

They had been playing with a 38-caliber gun inside an apartment on Elm Avenue one day last March.

The Sophomore post player will purse a basketball career in Europe. LaRue led the Cavaliers in scoring in 20 games and she was the top rebounder in 23 contests.
LaRue was also named the 2001 Virginia Women's player of the year by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.
