Some streams in Virginia may get higher levels of fecal bacteria -
The Department of Environmental Quality has proposed allowing higher levels of bacteria in out-of-the-way waters that people don't play-in or drink from.
The savings would be used to clean-up streams and rivers more likely to be used by people.
Environmentalists worry that the plan means Virginia will create second-class streams that could endanger the public.
D-E-Q's proposal must be approved by the State Water Control Board.

[SUPER=03-Friday/Roanoke;]

Zoo officials made the announcement yesterday afternoon, .... but say the baby leopard died Saturday.
That's when zoo officials noticed the mother carrying the lifeless cub away from the den area.
Zoo officials say that it's possible the cub was suffocated by its mother or that it died from some other cause.
The remaining two cubs were examined and the veterinarian found them in good health.
They'll be left with their mother... who continues to nurse and care for them.
The cubs were born May 4th. (------------)
