A standoff with sheriff's deputies in Henry County is over. It ended around 7-15 this morning.
We are still awaiting further details, but we know that more than a dozen sheriff's cars were sent to Southland Drive. That's a mile or so south of the Martinsville Speedway, heading toward the Ridgeway area.
We have a crew at the scene, and we will have more information later today on News 7 at 6.

Firefighters in Bedford County may try to catch up on their sleep today .. after battling a late-night fire near Moneta.

They were called to a barn on a private lane off state route 801, and found the the building fully ablaze when they arrived.
The barn was destroyed, but firefighters stayed there well into the early-morning hours .. to let hay bales inside burn out .. and make sure flames did not spread to the nearby forest.
No word yet on what might have started the blaze. We have no reports of any injuries.

Danny Parker was 16 months old on D-Day - the day her father, Earl Parker, was killed.

One man is dead, another faces murder charges, following a shooting in Henry County overnight.
Sheriff's deputies say 38 year old James Garnett Marlow was arrested inside his Southland Drive home, several hours after authorities surrounded the home.
Marlow is charged with the shooting death of Bobby L. Collins, who was a neighbor. Investigators say it followed an argument between the two.

A Bonner County Sheriff's office spokesman says family members and close friends helped talk the children out of their home.

Thursday, had withdrawn to their rural house after their recently-widowed mother was arrested for child neglect. Their father had died May 12th.
All are reported to be in good condition.

Instead, the Sheltered Workshop concentrates on helping its employees learn valuable skills.. both on the job and in their everyday life.

It specializes in manufacturing, packaging, even custodial services and is constantly branching out into new fields.
For 25 years, the Sheltered Workshop has taken in adults with varying degrees of mental and physical challenges.
Instead of languishing at home, here they're given a job with responsibilities, a time clock.. and most importantly, a paycheck.

The workshop handles all sorts of tasks from recycling to cleaning to light manufacturing.
Companies save money by farming the work out to employees who work for less than minimum wage and don't require insurance or benefits.
For the workers, the payoff comes in less tangible things like pride and self- esteem.

Sheriff's deputies say 38 year old James Garnett Marlow was arrested inside his Southland Drive home, several hours after authorities surrounded the home.
Marlow is charged with the shooting death of Bobby L. Collins, who was a neighbor. Investigators say it followed an argument between the two.
