Police were led to the area off Route 3-11 to get a dog out of a locked car, but when police checked the license plates, they found the car belonged to a 50-year old Roanoke man missing since yesterday.
Police say they're concerned because the man is 300-pounds and several different medications were found inside his car.

The city of Roanoke is considering a land swap and a two- million- dollar contribution to help the YMCA build a new home downtown.

Four hundred square melons are being shipped to Tokyo and Osaka.

College life and bigtime college football are the next obstacles for former William Fleming football standout Jermaine Hardy. He graduated from Hargrave Military Academy a few weeks ago.

Hardy was back in town recently competing in the Hurt Park/Act's II 3 on 3 basketball tournament. He's moved from running back to defensive back and the UVa coaches are encouraged.

A few months ago, Uva was talking about big time budget cuts for athletics. My how things have changed. An anonymous donor gave 20 million dollars to the University's athletic program this week. It's the second largest single gift ever made to Virginia athletics.

The gift will enable UVa to proceed with planning for a new basketball arena. The 20 million is one-third of the core funding needed to start the project. Replacing U-hall will cost a total of 125 million.

Cheryl McClusky says she was getting her kids ready for school when she saw a raccoon in her house. The scurrying critter made a mess of things before police were called in. The raccoon led them on a wild chase throughout the house, however police finally apprehended the intruder. After snagging him, police sent him on his way, to the woods outside.
