A Roanoke woman shot in the back during an apparent domestic dispute remains in the hospital thiis morning.

The 34- year old woman was shot Saturday afternoon in a room at the Jefferson Lodge Motel in Roanoke. Police have not released the woman's name but say she remains in stable condition. Her boyfriend has been charged with malicious wounding.

A motorcycle accident killed one person just outside Blacksburg. State police say it happened shortly before six last night at the intersection of Merrimac and Prices Fork roads. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Memorial staff members estimate that at least 14-thousand people came out this Sunday.
Thousands wanted to take advantage of the final weekend of free parking at the site.
Beginning Tuesday, visitors will have to pay 10 dollars for a year-long parking pass.
In just the four days following the dedication ceremony, 41-thousand people visited the memorial.

Automobile history was a hot topic at the Explore Park over the weekend. The Roanoke Valley Region of the Antique Automobile Club rolled into town.

Nearly 60 antique cars and trucks were on display. Organizers say the event drew all kinds of vehicles including a recently restored 19-57 Chevrolet tow truck, making its show debut. And, organizers say turnout for the first time event was great.

A new crew relieved searchers looking for a missing Alzheimer's patient about an hour ago. The 83-year-old man disappeared from an assisted care facility near Blacksburg Saturday night.

By air and by land, nearly 300 people turned out to help search for Thomas Marlow.
The 83-year-old man disappeared from an assisted living wing at Warm Hearth Village Saturday evening.
He suffers from middle-stage Alzheimers.

Marlow is a former Virginia Tech animal science professor and longtime resident of Blacksburg.
He and his wife have lived in the Kroontje (KrUn-chee) Health Care Center at Warm Hearth Village since February.
Marlow wore an ankle band that normally alerts staff when Alzheimers patients try to leave the building.
Employees don't know why an alarm did NOT sound when he left.

The Virginia State Police and Civil Air Patrol searched above by helicopter.

Health care providers are questioning why residents in southwest Virginia are dying from heart attacks, diabetes and suicide at faster rates than the rest of the state. The Graduate Medical Education Consortium has sent out forms to area residents in hopes of solving the medical mystery. The information will be shared with the General Assembly, area physicians and others in the health care industry.

State police say a man from Goodview is dead, following a single- vehicle accident yesterday.
Authorities say the crash occurred just off route 886, nearly a mile south of Route 24 in Bedford County.
They say 35- year- old Charles Allen Pugh ran off the right side of the road, then swerved to the left side, and struck a utility pole.
Pugh died immediately after the crash.

Demonstrators are debating over the Confederate Flag today in West Virginia. The Sons of Confederate Veterans are upset by efforts to take the confederate flag off state capitols. They also want West Virginia to allow them a vanity license plate. The group is planning to demonstrate in Beckley and Princeton to promote the display of the confederate flag. A demonstration is also planned here in Virginia. The Sons of Confederate Veterans are upset over Governor Gilmore's move to expand his traditional designation of April as Confederate History Month.
They're planning to rally today at Richmond's famous statue of Confederate General Robert E- Lee.
