"University Headquarters dot com" was started by two former Virginia Tech students.
Up until recently, their company sold only Virginia Tech merchandise.
Now the pair has signed a deal that will allow them to sell merchandise from 62 other colleges and universities.


350-thousand dollars worth of merchandise is in the process of being brought up on the web.
It will be up for sale by the beginning of July.

The state's Republican elected officials win favorable reviews in the latest News 7 Mason-Dixon poll.

Senator John Warner remains the state's most popular office-holder. Two out of three registered voters surveyed rate his job performance as excellent or good. [TAKE PINNACLE 1003]
Junior Senator George Allen also does well after six months on the job. Statewide, 59 percent rate his performance as excellent or good. [TAKE PINNACLE 1004]
Governor Jim Gilmore's numbers have rebounded slightly since the budget stalemate earlier this year.
Across Virginia, 56 percent of those polled gave the governor a rating of excellent or good, up from 52 percent in March.

But the survey also suggests Gilmore may have little impact on the 2001 Governor's race.

Jimmy Kibble, former punter for the Hokies, has pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor charges.
23-year old Kibble was an assistant football coach at Osburn Park High School when he had consentual sexual contact with two 16-year old girls.
He was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
He will be sentenced on July 13th, and could serve up to 4 years.

The former publisher of the Roanoke Times is spending his retirement as president of a small women's college.

Walter (Roo-GAY-bur) Rugaber recently took over as interim head of Hollins University after the position was vacated by Janet Rasmussen. The school says Rasmussen left after five years on the job because of "philosophical differences". Rugaber, who'd been a member of the Hollins board of trustees for eight years, hopes to boost the school's enrollment numbers by getting the word out about all the school has to offer.

A Danville restaurant is damaged by fire.

Firefighters noticed smoke when they first arrived at the Fresh Market and Buffet on (nor-DAN) Nordan Drive around 2:45 this morning.
Then flames shot out of the roof. Officials say the fire was mostly in the ceiling over the dining area. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to put the flames out.

Vaughan Furniture's second quarter wasn't what they expected.

The Galax company says continued weak demand for residential furniture caused it to cutback its hours for almost the entire quarter.
Vaughan says a strong rebound in consumer confidence will be necessary to turn things around.
Despite the bleak report, Vaughan says its factories are running well and are poised for greater efficiency.
The company hopes its launch of five new furniture collections will help with a second half upswing.
