An accident in Alabama claims the life of a Virginia woman and three children.
60 year old Jesse David Adams, of Pittsylvania County, was traveling on Interstate 65 when he struck a parked tractor trailer shortly after 6 A-M.
In the car with him was 60 year old Zelma Wilson Adams, who died, along with three children.
One of the children... 5 year old Tania Alexis Poindexter was also from Pittsylvania County.
The driver was taken to a hospital in Mobile to be treated for injuries.

Another new driving law goes into effect today... this one - affects those charged with drinking and driving.
Judges and juries in Virginia WILL be informed when a defendant refuses to take a breathalyzer test.
But the law also instructs judges and juries not to consider their refusal as evidence of guilt.
Defense lawyers contend the law is unfair and irrelevant as to whether a driver was truly intoxicated when pulled over.

Sources tell news 7 sports that Peter Gillespie, the majority owner of the ECHL's Augusta Lynx, and Larry Kish submitted an offer to buy the Roanoke Express Thursday. Gillespi also holds a minor interest in the Macon Woopie team. Sources say Gillespie, IF he buys the team, COULD move the Express to Fayetteville, North Carolina to play in the Cumberland County Crown Coliseum. The Central Hockey league team that played there this past season, the Fayetteville Force, is dormant at this time. Gillespie could not be reached for comment. His offering price is also not known.
Sources also tell news 7 sports, that a local group is not only interested in buying the Express but submitted it's offer to buy the team over the weekend. More on this story as details become available.

Mickelson's 68 on the final day was good enough to hold off Billy Andrade (AHN'-drayd) at the P-G-A's Greater Harford Open. Mickelson won with a 16-under-par 264, Andrade was 15-under, and Dudley Hart, David Berganio and Chris DiMarco finished at 14-under.

Today, Betsy King has won the ShopRite L-P-G-A Classic for the third time. The 45-year-old golfer shot a 4-under-par 67. It's her 34th career L-P-G-A victory. King finished the 54 holes at 12-under 201.

With the Winston Cup circuit o ff, the Busch series took center stage and Greg Biffle took advantage of the extra attention.

The GNC 250 would take place at the Milwaukee mile as drivers had to run 250 laps in the Busch Series 17th of 33 races this season.
There were some cautions through out the day. Watch Jay Sauter and Bobby Hamilton trade paint on lap 87, both hit the wall hard.
On lap 127, Jeff Green passes Kevin harvick for the lead. These two battled much of the day with Harvick leading a race high 165 laps and Green running first for 19 circuits.
But Harvick's hard racing and fuel mis-calculation cost him. With 17 laps to go Harvick is forced to pit for fule. Greg Biffle, making a risky fuel milage gamble then takes the lead for the first time and never gives it up. He goes a 104 miles without pitting for his third win of his rookie campaign. Biffle wins and closes to within 132 points of Harvick, the Busch points leader. Matt Kenseth was second, Kevin Grubb third and Harvick fourth.

An NBA star fresh off a run at the Championship has come home to help area athletes.
George Lynch opened his camp yesterday in Roanoke.
The former Patrick Henry star got hurt during the 76er's eastern conference semifinal series against the Raptors.
Because of the broken bone in his foot, Lynch saw very little action in Philadelphia's championship series with the Lakers.

Needless to say the Championship experience wasn't what George had wanted it to be.
But he's returned home to a camp with a record number of athletes. More than 200 young basketball players have enrolled in the three day camp.

Now that Lynch's camp is under the umbrella of the All-Star Clinics organization the fees have been reduced to 25-dollars.
Lynch says he's happy this makes the camp available to children of all backrounds.
