Another weekend accident, this one in Alabama, took the life of a Virginia woman .. and three children, one of them from our region. Police say all were riding on I-65 .. in a car driven by 60 year old Jesse David Adams, of Pittsylvania County .. when the vehicle ran into a parked tractor-trailer.
One of the dead children... 5 year old Tania Alexis Poindexter, was also from Pittsylvania County.

BUT HERE ARE SOME OTHERS THAT CAN HELP AS WELL:
ONE- BE CAREFUL WITH A FAVORITE OF KIDS- SPARKLERS- THEY CAN REACH 2000 DEGREES AND A SINGLE SPARK CAN BURN THROUGH AN EYE IN LESS THAN A TENTH OF A SECOND.
TWO: DONT TRY TO RELIGHT A DUD... AND WAIT AT LEAST 20 MINUTES BEFORE TRYING TO DISPOSE OF IT.
AND SPEAKING OF DISPOSING OF FIREWORKS- SOAK THEM IN A BUCKET BEFORE THROWING THEM OUT. BE SURE TO HAVE WATER AVAILABLE TO PUT OUT ANY FIRES
AND- LAST BUT NOT LEAST- NEVER SHOOT ANY FIREWORKS OUT OF A GLASS OR METAL CONTAINER.
A GOOD RULE OF THUMB FOR THIS HOLIDAY- AND ONE THAT WILL KEEP YOU SAFE- IS TO LEAVE THE FIREWORKS TO THE PROFESSIONALS-
