The national recognition is welcome after the Museum's loss of state revenue. Thanks to budget cuts, the Science Museum lost 750 THOUSAND dollars of state money. Because of this loss, open days and hours have been cut back, along with staff.
Museum officials hope accreditation will reassure the public that the museum is a safe investment.
And they say while the short term future looks bright, the museum will still need private support to stay open.
