Family members of Jessica Lewis told her minister today that the young woman had died and they were making arrangments for her to become an organ donor.

She was one of four teens seriously hurt when a Virginia Heights Baptist Church van overturned several times on U-S 220 south of Greensboro.
Lewis had been in critical condition ever since, and Reverend Nelson Harris says he got the news late this afternoon.
Three other teenagers are still in North Carolina hospitals.
They were returning from Myrtle Beach to Roanoke, as part of a youth activity sponsored by her Church.

A U-S Navy spy plane is finally home.

A cargo jet carrying the fuselage and other salvageable parts of the spy plane today landed in Marietta, Georgia. The plane had been detained in China since April first, when it collided with a Chinese fighter jet. The plane's fate remains unclear. Navy officials say it may be reassembled or the pieces may be used for parts in other aircraft. Beijing rejected a U-S proposal to repair the plane and fly it home. The two sides eventually compromised, agreeing the plane would be transported out in pieces, but taken apart in such a way that it could be put back together again.

A rescue attempt at a Pennsylvania cave has ended in tragedy.

Crews had been working since yesterday to free Sharn Cleland and had just one more boulder to remove when another collapsed today, killing him.
The 24-year old had been exploring and was just ten feet inside the cave near Lancaster when he was pinned under falling rocks from his waist down.
About 200 rescuers, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene, including some from Baltimore trained in cave rescues.

((Sources say that a potential Express buyer has or will offer current ownership 800 thousand dollars, the highest bid yet, and then cover the owners losses that could bring the total buying sale to 1.2 million dollars. The source told News 7 sports that, in this scenario, the Express would play one more season in Roanoke and then move to Gwinett, Georgia and into the Gwinett Civic and Cultural Center. This facility broke ground on a 60 million dollar hockey arena last week and construction time coincides with the 2003 season. Current ownership would not comment on this. But Dick Yancey did talk by phone today about the sale. ((:)) The local potential buyers, which included Rising Star owner Chris Pollock and Ashby Coleman and a local attorney whose name has not been released, are playing the waiting game with their offer reported to be 650 thousand, on the table. Pollock says an answer must come soon because the 2002 season is not to far off. ((:)) Local fans are getting frustrated and not knowing whether or not the team will be in Roanoke next year has caused a freeze on the ice and at the ticket office. ((:))))

The Avalanche would get things going in the 3rd. Dan Phillips smokes it past 3rd baseman James Langston and the runner comes in to score.
Offense wasn't all that was cooking for the Avalanche, Defense was tough

Jennifer Capriati's run for the grand slam is over but Venus Williams moves on to defend her title at Wimbledon.

But she ran into a road block in Justine Henin. After cruising through the first set 6-2, Capriati's baseline play ran out. Henin would take the next two sets 6-4, 6-2 to advance becoming the first player from Belgium to reach the Wimbledon final.

Rain washed out tonight's qualifying at Daytona for the Pepsi 400. The session has been rescheduled for noon tomorrow.

Stacy Compton, like many of the Cup drivers, is returning to Daytona for the first time since Dale Earnhardt crashed and was killed on the final lap of the 500.
Compton says the drivers think about Earnhardt all the time however, the Pepsi 400 is at the top of the list this weekend.
