Authorities say a Lynchburg man possibly drowned in Leesville Lake this morning. The Bedford County Sheriff's department says two men went fishing around midnight. One jumped in for a swim.
He came back up, but the other man says he didn't see him again. A search has been ongoing throughout the night for the missing man, however one obstacle rescuers face is an undertow at the dam. A Dive team is coming in to search at daylight.

The future of Jefferson Forest high school is still up in the air. But the Bedford County school board made some headway last night.

Sometime in early August, an architect would then be selected to proceed with a course of action. A man wanted for questioning in the 12-year-old murder of a Martinsville woman is in custody.

Timothy Wayne Willis was caught in North Carolina Sunday night.
The 39-year-old was wanted for questioning in the murder of his former friend, Ether Adean Smith.
Willis escaped from a Franklin County jail work release program the day after her body was found.

The trio was found by Franklin County authorities on Friday in Rocky Mount. According to Barker, Dewey Summerlin was sent to jail several times for stalking her. She says the latest incident was Dewey's way to get revenge.

Authorities found 33-year- old Anthony A. Revely dead from an apparent self- inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

In Bedford County, authorities say they finally have some answers to a six- year- old murder mystery.
42-year old Roy Denver Sluder was arrested Friday in High Point, North Carolina and charged with killing his estranged wife in June of 1995.
Loria Sluder died of a gunshot wound to the head inside her husband's mobile home near Goodview.

At a formal sentencing hearing in Pulaski yesterday, Judge Colin Gibb ruled Thomas will be executed for the murder of Tara Munsey. The decision follows a jury's recommendation in March for capital punishment. A helicopter crash near Camp Lejeune, North Carolina has claimed the lives of three Marines.
Meanwhile, the pilot and co- pilot of the Sea Knight transport chopper survived, and are hospitalized in stable condition.
The helicopter went down late last night in a river, and partially sank about 500 yards from shore.
The Marines were taking part in a training exercise when the chopper crashed.

AFTER A BULL SHARK ATTACKED THE BOY... SEVERING HIS ARM AND GASHING HIS LEG.... JESSE'S UNCLE WENT AFTER THE SHARK. SOMEHOW HE MANAGED TO BEACH THE SEVEN FOOT FISH. THAT'S WHEN RANGERS, LIFEGUARDS AND OTHERS TOOK OVER AND THE UNCLE CALLED 9-1-1.

The redistricting session continues today in Richmond.
The latest plan under consideration returns Blacksburg and Montgomery County to the Ninth District -- where they are now.
And Botetourt would return to the Sixth District.
The proposed changes came over the weekend in response to public comment.

A new warning is out from the so-called "Food Police".
The Washington Consumer Group says to beware of shellfish, especially oysters from the Gulf Coast.

Eating these oysters could prove fatal...at least that is the claim from the watchdog group Center for Science in the Public Interest.

Since 1989, more than 135 Americans have died and over 100 more have been seriously sickened by shellfish contaminated by Vibrio vulnificus bacteria.

Cliff Hillman's family owned business is waging a war against Vibrio bacteria. Last year alone, Hillman's Seafood shipped 50 million Gulf coast oysters around the world. These days, Hellman's Seafood uses a procedure called Individual Quick Frozen technology to protect their precious commodity.

Estacio Bridge: "Hillman also assigns a lot number to each container of oysters so if there's a problem, they can trace where the oyster came from."
But the Center for Science in the Public Interest or CSPI wants restaurants and the industry to do more to protect people.

"Half the people who develop a blood infection from this bacteria die, making it one of the deadliest food borne illnesses."
The CSPI applauded one procedure called High pressure processing. Hillman, who also chairs the Texas Oyster Growers and Dealers Association says a cracking down on the industry is not necessary. He says millions consume oysters ever year without a problem. However if you are worried, simply ask for treated oysters, to ward off any potential problem. Te, CBS News, Houston )) [Local-Recap]

Authorities have just found the body of a Lynchburg man who drowned overnight in Leesville Lake.
The Bedford County Sheriff's department says two men went fishing around midnight. One jumped in for a swim and disappeared.
The man's body will be sent to the medical examiner. Authorities are still investigating.

We do have one business related announcement to pass along this morning. First shift employees of Federal Mogul in Blacksburg are not to report to work today due to a power outage. However, all maintenance, electricians, and salaried employees should report as usual. Second shift employees should plan to report as usual, but they should call for updates.

Bedford's hospital is under new management. Bedford Memorial Hospital is now jointly owned by Carilion Health System and Centra Health. They say the union will allow the hospital to better serve the community and grow certain services like the cardiac rehabilitation program, orthopedics and gastroenterology.
