The House of Representatives wants to help patients cut the cost of prescription drugs.
Lawmakers voted overwhelmingly today to make it legal for consumers to buy their drugs by mail from other countries, where they are cheaper.
In doing so, the House rejected arguments by the drug industry and the Food and Drug Administration that consumers might be sold counterfeit drugs or drugs whose potency had been altered.
