A Shawsville man is recovering today after an altercation over the weekend that ended in gunshots.

40-year old Eric Hall is in stable condition at a Roanoke hospital.

Early Saturday morning he was stopped on Route-460 by a Roanoke County officer on suspicion of drunken driving. Hall told his family when he tried to talk to Officer Riley Meador (Med-dor), the officer used pepper spray and hit him with a baton. According to Hall, Officer Meador fired shots when he hit Meador once with his flashlight.

Alexander Hudson was 14 when he was arrested for the robbery and murder of a Rocky Mount man.
Authorities say Hudson and two friends strangled 61-year-old Ralph English in his bed with a shoelace on New Year's Eve.
Hudson's attorney claims the boy has been held too long without trial.
The judge released him from jail to his parents' custody yesterday... just 8 hours past the speedy trial deadline.

Judge Randall White sentenced Downey to live in a drug rehabilitation program for one year. Downey also received three years probation and has to submit to random drug testing.

The Judge warned Downey he could go to prison for up to four years if he violates the deal.

In recent years Downey has resurrected his film career with roles in critically-acclaimed movies like Wonder Boys. And just last week he was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role as a lawyer on Ally McBeal.

Downey has been arrested on drug charges before. He served one year in prison for skipping his scheduled drug tests ..and was paroled last year. But three months later police arrested Downey at a resort in Palm Springs. Investigators got an anonymous tip ..and allegedly found drugs in his hotel room.
