In court-- Poff said he was sorry but contends the amount he took was actually much less.

Hudson was charged with robbing and killing of 61-year old Ralph English from Rocky Mount.

Both sides say they are pleased with the verdict.

8 world leaders met inside a peaceful palace - but outside just a few
blocks away
As many as 100-thousand of them -- who want the leaders of the
worlds richest countries to consider the poor - are taking on
20-thousand police. The only thing separating enemy lines -- a 6-mile
stretch of steel fence -- put up by police to keep the protesters a safe
distance from the summit site.
But by the middle of the day the confrontation gets out of control.
Demonstrators throw rocks, break windows, and start small fires.
Police retaliate by firing tear gas into the crowds and after several
hours of fighting one young man is dead. There are still conflicting reports about how he died. Hours later, the fighting still raged.

On day one of a 3-day meeting scores of demonstrators and police are
already injured one person is dead and an entire city is under siege.

Authorities continue to investigate a shooting that killed a Pittsylvania County man overnight.

The Sheriff's Department responded to this home on Rockford School Road just before one A-M.
Witnesses say a dark colored small vehicle pulled up to the residence and two people got out, began shooting, then got back in and kept firing.
Deputies say one of the shots struck 22 year old Marcus Dawson when he stepped out of the house.
So far, no motive is known and no one is charged.
The body will be sent to Roanoke for an autopsy.

He will be tried for the 1977 death of his live in girlfriend, Holly Maddux.
Maddux's mummified body was found stuffed in a trunk in their apartment 18 months after Einhorn said she went to the store and never returned.

They were the winners of a contest that let them get married on the Big Kahuna water slide at a Six Flags park.

They competed in an annual belly flop contest for a Missouri radio station.
Each contestant had to weigh at LEAST 260 pounds. The heaviest tipped the scale at 485 pounds.
Many of the contestants wore outfits directing humor to their large sizes and had a lot of fun with the crowd. No word yet on who the winner is but they all made quite a splash.
The winner received 500 dollars and his weight in Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
