Judge Richard Wennet chose not to send the 14 year old to prison for the REST of his life...in the shooting death of his teacher Barry Grunow last year. He must then serve two years in a form of house arrest and another five years of probation. Robert Udell/Brazill's Defense Attorney "I figure we're going to spend about 1.2 million dollars on housing nathaniel, I promise you if you give me that 1.2 million dollars and send him home with me, I'm going to turn you out a college graduate." Despite his earlier calls for life without parole, the prosecutor refused to label the sentence a disappointment. Marc Shiner/Prosecutor "I can only hope and pray that nathaniel will come out of jail and never hurt anyone again." Brazill's sentence was just three years more than the legal minimum, but comes without the possibility of parole or time off for good behavior. This is the scene- police say a car struck a gas meter this morning and that may have triggered the blast.
It sent glass and bricks flying and injured several people.

The blaze is so strong it even forced firefighters to abandon fire-breaks.

A lawsuit accusing Virginia Republicans of setting descriminatory voting districts will play out in a Salem court.

Judge Richard Pattisall ruled that the lawsuit brought by Democrats will be heard in HIS court.
The suit accuses Republicans of drawing new district lines to squeeze out minority and Democratic influence.

Democrats filed the suit in Salem because it's where they believe Delegate Morgan Griffith drew the plans.

Georgia Theatre Company announced plans today to build a 14-screen stadium megaplex theater.
The new facility will be located on Highway 58 between the Big K-mart and the Robertson Street Bridge.
Construction is set to begin this September with an opening date planned for the Spring of 2002.
Once completed, the theater will feature stadium seating, digital sound, and wide arc "wall to wall" screens.
