A federal jury has been selected to hear the the case Glen Dexter Powell.

A group of children in Bedford found the body of a man who drowned over the weekend.

An autopsy revealed that it's a white man in his 60s.
Police are NOT identifying him until they tell his family.

Recent rains have poured trouble over parts of Virginia and West Virginia. But help is on the way for some flooding victims.
Governor Jim Gilmore is headed to far southwest Virginia this afternoon to assess damage from yesterday's flash floods.
State transportation officials estimate damage ``in the millions'' but have no solid figures yet.
Several bridges were washed out and homes were damaged, mostly in Scott and Wise counties which the Governor has already declared a disaster area.

In Scott County-- a 77- year old man died when his mobile home was swept away by water. Others in the county had to be rescued when they could NOT make it across swollen creeks. While others lost crops and livestock.

The American Red Cross has opened shelters in Scott and Tazewell Counties. The Governor's office has also authorized more than 100- National Guard troops to help.

And in West Virginia - rushing waters claimed the life of a three-year-old boy. The boy died after being pulled from the Tug Fork River in McDowell County. The boy was apparently playing outside when he was swept away into a drain pipe.

Officials say many of the flooded areas, such as McDowell, are the same ones hit by record floods earlier this month.

Typhoon (tor-AH-jee) Toraji churned through Taiwan today.
22 people were killed in mudslides and flash floods.
Dozens MORE are reported missing.
The typhoon also cut power to thousands of homes and canceled international flights.
(tor-AH-jee) Toraji has since weakened to a tropical storm.
What's called Taiwan's worst storm of the year so far is now on its way to southern China.

Artis is also a member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
The group has accused Roanoke's Police and Sheriff's Departments of police brutality.
They want to bring in the Justice Department and a request for a federal investigation is expected to arrive at Senator John Warner's office this week.

The worm is coming back--
Computer experts are warning the public about the "Code Red" worm virus.
They say users of some Microsoft operating systems could experience slowdowns, and even Internet outages.
The virus infected more than 250-thousand systems two weeks ago.
Officials expect "Code Red" to spread again tomorrow evening.
Its primary target appears to be the White House web site.

Washington and Lee President John Elrod was laid to rest in Lexington yesterday.

Elrod died on Friday of "congestive heart failure" stemming from a more than two- year battle with kidney cancer. During his six years as president, he oversaw the most comprehensive period of growth the school has ever seen. Elrod was memorialized in Lee Chapel, where another former Washington and Lee president, Robert -E- Lee is buried. Elrod was 61 years old.

The city's 89- year old City Hall is set to be torn down in October. However, a move by city council could spare the historic building. City Council has voted to make it available for sale until August 13th. But some residents who've fought to save the structure say they're still not happy. They say it's doubtful anyone would want to buy the building because city council has placed a number of restrictions on how it's to be maintained.

He was the leader after 25 laps of the race.
Pole Sitter Todd Bodine was running third after 31 laps, but he left the race before the halfway mark with engine problems.
Dale Jarrett, who shares the points lead with Gordon, led a lap. But he was running 15th after 59 laps.
Gordon had the dominant car.
He was the leader at the halfway mark almost 5 seconds in front of Ricky Rudd, who won the spring race.
Then with just over 45 laps to go, several cars get caught up in a crash.
Jeff Burton, Ward Burton and Dale Jarrett were 3 of the cars.
Jarrett had to take his car to the garage area for repairs to his hood and radiator.

Swimmer Zhang Jian is the first Chinese person to swim across the English Channel.
State television showed the 37- year- old physical education teacher striding into the sea.
The English Channel has attracted many adventure-seekers over the years, because it's one of the most difficult bodies of water to cross.
Analysts say his time for the crossing - just under 12 hours - was remarkably fast for a first attempt.
