Federal jurors made short work today of the kidnapping and weapons charges against Glenn Dexter Powell.

It took them about an hour to find him guilty as charged.
Powell had taken his wife, Kimberly, at gunpoint from her parents' home in Salem last November. He also allegedly took their three children, but wasn't charged with that in FEDERAL court. A trial is set in Salem October 11th on nine more charges.

Police say 18-year-old Melanie Dawn Wilmouth of Ringgold took almost 47-thousand dollars in merchandise.
Wilmouth worked at K-Mart and allegedly took the items over a period of several months.

The gay men convicted of soliciting oral sex in a Roanoke park have lost their last appeal.
The Virginia Supreme Court rejected their challenge to the law against sodomy.

Their attorney, Sam Garrison, made the announcement in Wasena Park, the same place the men were caught asking for sex from undercover police officers.
Garrison said he and his clients were disappointed the Supreme Court refused to hear the case.
And he said they had already decided they would not take it to federal court.
Garrison also said that he's giving up private practice, in part because of the notoriety he got from handling this case.

If shareholders and other authorities agree to the conditions of the merger, the deal is expected to go through by the end of the year.
Both banks will continue operating under their current names.

The Richmond F-B-I office confirms it is working on a tip that a body has been removed from Washington D-C and relocated to a site near Fort Lee, in the Petersburg area south of Richmond.

An anonymous tip turned up on a website monitored by the Washington Metro Police, allegedly reporting that Chandra Levy's body could be buried in a parking lot under construction in the Fort Lee area.
A Richmond F-B-I spokeswoman says her office is sorting through a "deluge of information," and IF the tip is deemed credible, other law enforcement units could be called in.
Police in Washington are emphasizing they have pursued thousands of leads -- and the Virginia tip may just be another lead that goes nowhere.
