SunTrust's CEO did make a speech at the meeting, a sort of last ditch effort to win over shareholders.
And even though he lost this round of mergia mania, industry analysts expect SunTrust to make a bid for BB&T in the near future.
As for customers, well they can bank on some big changes in the coming months.

Today, the N-A-A-C-P and local gay activists held a rally at Lee Plaza.

The sheriff's tactical team, state troopers and a state police helicopter spent more than five hours searching for the teen in heavy woods near Route 714.
He was finally captured near the Whispering Pines mobile home park around 5:45.
Sheriff Brown says the teen likely will face additional charges of escape, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.

The State Police says a tractor trailer overturned just before ten tonight, taking with it a utility pole.
Two other vehicles also crashed.
Troopers say there are injuries but are described as non-life threatening.

The road is expected to be closed for several hours.

A violent storm is being blamed for the crash of a Virginia National Guard cargo plane in March. 21 people were killed when the C-23 Sherpa went down in a field near Macon, Georgia. Eighteen Virginia National Guard members, including Blacksburg native Greg Skurupey were killed in the crash. A report by the Florida National Guard says a thunderstorm caused the plane to experience nine times the force of earth's gravity. A source close to the investigation says the crew apparently incorrectly loaded passengers and gear so that the plane carried too much weight at the back.

A Montgomery County man will pay a 1-thousand dollar fine for his part in a fatal car accident last August. A judge found Richard Horne guilty of a form of reckless driving because he was speeding on Pilot Road. But the judge did rule the wreck was accidental.

Barr Laboratories manufactures fluoxetine (flu-OX-eh-teen) in New Jersey, but the company has been bottling and packaging the capsules at its facility in Forest.
Barr won the right to launch the generic after challenging Prozac patents in federal court. The company began shipping the drug today. It should be available to consumers within a few days.

Nearly a dozen of Gerald Cassidy's historic paintings were revealed when workers tore down walls to create a new exhibit at the Museum of Man. Researches across the country had long considered these paintings "lost"... they hadn't been seen for eighty six years, when they were thought to have disappeared.
