Officials in Bland County have a new theory on what caused a deadly crash on Interstate 77 last month.

At first State Police believed a car driven by a West Virginia man crossed the median and caused the wreck.

Authorities say 60-year-old Renata Richter was traveling south when SHE crossed the median and hit the car carrying a family of four.
That group was headed north to West Virginia.

The thirty eight year old Wall street banker .. was attacked during an early morning swim in the waters off Freeport, in the Bahama. Krishna and his wife were on a 10th wedding anniversary gettaway. After
he fought off the shark, Thompson managed to swim to shore.

The injuries that he had, he should have bled to death right there in the Bahamas on the beach.

So far this year there have been more than 31 shark attacks worldwide ...two thirds of them in the United States ...most of those off Florida's coast. It was here in this state park near Pensacola where eight year old Jessie Arbogast was attacked while swimming a month ago.
Today he's in a nearby hospital. He still can't talk and must be fed through a tube.
Doctors still don't know if the boy will make a full recovery. As for Krishna Thompson .. his wife is grateful doctors were able to save her husbands life...that they will have time together to celebrate that

Our new antenna crested the last grade on Poor Mountain this morning, atop a flat bed trailer all the way from Maine.
It's 38 feet tall, weighs a ton and a half and cost about 200-thousand dollars.
It won't be put in place until Fall. Ultimately it'll be a key element in our conversion to digital television.
The new transmitter is already in place, and- -as you probably know- -we're building a new studio on Hershberger Road. All of this will enable W-D-B-J to begin broadcasting a digital signal on Channel 18.
There'll be a six years transition period when we'll be broadcasting on both Channel 7 and 18, but the F-C-C requires us to have the digital antenna on the air by May 1st.

A barge carried the engine up the James River today.

The monitor eventually sank off the coast of North Carolina during a storm.

Tommy Morgan's old teammates at Northside, are missing him and 13 other players who graduated. The Vikings ended last season with a loss to Salem in the Region 3 Division 4 championship. This year will be challenging in the tough Blue Ridge.

The Roanoke Express owners announced yesterday that they are dropping ticket prices for next season. Silver section seats will drop 6 percent, Gold section seats will fall 13 percent and Platinum level seats will go down 4 percent. Ice level seats and kids 17 and under, their tickets remain the same price.

Express head coach Perry Florio announced yesterday that veteran goalie Daniel Berthiaume has agreed to terms with the Express for the upcoming season. This will be his seventh season in Roanoke.
