The Roanoke city school system is making some changes. The system announced today it's revising some of its human resources policies. This-- after a report found that more than 30 of its employees had criminal records. Richard Lesko has more.

[PRE-PRO] Superintendant Wayne Harris responded to that report, announcing that a team of human resource professionals will be assembled to review the hiring practices of the school system, and also any worker who fails to disclose a criminal conviction will now be terminated. Of the 36 employees in question, about half are still with the school system, and Harris says 12 of those employees ha

The Henry County sheriff's office is investigating a shooting which left a teenager dead. 16 year-old Lorenzo Hairston, of Martinsville was shot in the head outside of the Horse Pasture Ruritan Club last night. Two other Martinsville men were wounded in the shooting, which stemmed from a fight outside the club. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Henry County Sheriff's office.

After a six month ordeal, she finally moved into her new home.

Thats because long before the mobile home, Virgie lived in a house located on this lot.
Two years ago, she tore the house down and put in a mobile home last February.
Her good friend Nancy Davis helped Virgie obtain all the neccessary permits. [14:53:07]

Fans of the fiddle came out in full force this week for the 66th annual old fiddler's convention in Galax.

The week long event attracted nearly forty thousand spectators, including 22-hundred performers. This is the oldest and largest fiddler's convention in the world.

A home in South Roanoke suffered heavy damage last night when it was hit by lightning.

The impact knocked bricks from the chimney, and set the roof on fire.
Kimberly Templeton was home with her three children when the storm moved through around eight o'clock.
She says it sounded like a bomb had hit her house.
Everyone made it out okay and firefighters retrieved the family dog after it ran back inside.
But the flames were difficult to reach.
A preliminary estimate set the damages at more than 50- thousand dollars.

The 33 year old Allen signed a one year contract with the Baltimore Ravens for the veteran minimum salary. Allen will earn 477-thousand dollars this season. He replaces injured running back Jamal Lewis, who tore a knee ligament in practice this week.
