The tickets are popping up as fast as the money is being dished out.

Powerball fever has already swept the nation. Now, someone is hoping to mop up 200-million dollars.

(Sot, Jane Whitehead, Powerball Player, "If you win, what are you going

to do with 200-million dollars? Oh my god, could I even spend that amount of money.")
Obviously, a lot of people think, they can spend that kind of money. Powerball outlets are running non-stop in 21 states and Washignton, DCTERMS. From Connecticutt to Kentucky, folks are hoping lady luck is on their side.
This little station in Covington, Kentucky, is doing gangbusters. One reason, it's just across the border froom Cincinnati, Ohio, a state that doesn't play Powerball. So guess where everyone from the Buckeye state is coming.

(Sot, Denise Benn, Powerball Player, "It's just over the river. What do

I have to lose? Drive a coouple of minutes and win 200-millioin dollars.")
A spokesman for Powerball says this has become a social event.

(Sot, Joe Mahoney, Powerball Spokesman, "We like to call Powerball

America's game. And at this point, people just want to be a part of it.")
Shannon Hoenig says her station sold 26-thousand dollars in tickets on Monday... Tuesday, 37-thousand... today she expects it to top 50-thousand. Why wait until the last minute?

(Sot, Shannon Hoenig, Gas Station Manager, "A lot of people have that

superstition, if they wait til the last minute, they're going to get that winning ticket.")

(LEVINSON STANDUP CLOSE: And, if there's not a winner, we'll do it all

over again on Saturday. But then the jackpot will be close5r to 300-million. DL, CBS News, covington, KY.)
