But its far from being a done deal.

A Roanoke company known as Miss Utility wants to relocate to Rocky Mount.
The only catch? Enough people have to show interest.

Just this week, the county announced Group Insurance Concepts plans to re-locate here, hiring some fifty full-time workers.

Company officials will announce their decision within the next two weeks.

The town of Rocky Mount is making the most of its membership in a state organization.

By being a member-- the town is entitled to free advertisement.
In June-- the town was featured in Southern Living Magazine.
But that's not all.

The main street program has put together a brochure that highlights the 19- towns that belong to the organization.
Officials say demand for the pamphlet has increased since the Southern Living article.
A Dublin man is dead from a gunshot wound.
Pulaski County deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call on Ingles Ferry Road shortly before 5 this evening and found 22 year old Cary Madison Bragg dead.
Witnesses said several people were target practicing at the time of the shooting.
Deputies have charged Victor Leroy Brown with second degree murder.
Brown is being held at the Regional Jail in Dublin. The investigation is continuing.[Power-Line]
The National Forest service will have the final say in the poweline debate.
But that isn't keeping supporters and opponents from discussing the issue.
A-E-P spokesman Todd Burns and Power Line Opponent Jeff (Jan-ahsk-oh) Janosko faced-off today on News 7 Saturday morning.
Burns says the line that would run from Wyoming County West Virginia to Jacksons Ferry, stems from a state-of-the-art design.

A Buchanan County judge has reversed his own earlier ruling and will allow the evidence to remain in a lab in California for now.
The Buchanan County coal miner was put to death eight years ago for the rape and murder of his sister-in-law.
The judge issued a new ruling this week following a request
from four newspapers and a group in New Jersey.
They asked that the evidence remain safely frozen while they appealed his decision not to allow new tests to the Virginia Supreme Court.

A marijuana bust in Patrick and Floyd Counties keeps growing.
A helicopter yesterday located several pot fields on the side of Tuggles Gap Mountain.
It was all part of the area's annual eradication drug sweep.
The Patrick County Sheriff says they've now found nearly 17- hundred plants all with a street value of nearly a half million dollars.
No arrests have been made, but the investigation is continuing.
The Ladies of Harley put the pedal to the metal today in Roanoke for a good cause.
Hundreds of riders took part in the second annual "Hogs for Dogs" fundraiser to benefit the Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation.
Each Biker paid a ten dollar entry free to ride around the city for several hours.
The foundation will now use the money to help train dogs for people who are physically and emotional disabled.

Today-- thousands upon thousands of people stood in line to buy tickets for the 280 million- dollar jackpot.
People from states without Powerball were even swarming over state lines for a chance at a fortune.

Wisconsin's Jim Sorgi took over when starting quarterback Brooks Bollinger went down and he throws a pair of T-D passes as the 22-nd ranked Badgers beat Virginia 26 to 17.

Al Groh's first game at U-V-A was delayed for about 30 minutes because of a rain storm.

The Salem Avalanche opened a key series with Kinston last night losing to the Indians 5 to 1.
