A Wisconsin company is recalling more than half- a million pounds of ground beef that may be tainted with a strain of E-coli bacteria.
It was distributed to 17 states, including Virginia.

The beef comes from American Foods Group and was sold under the Kroger brand-name in three and five pound tubes.
So far, the company says, it has NOT made anyone sick.

((The remains of Aaliyah's plane sit in pieces just off the runway in the Bahamas, but new details are coming out about what happened in the moments before they took off. The ambulance crew who rushed an injured passenger to the hospital says he told them there was an argument about much weight the small plane could carry.

The rest of the singers crew, who did not board that fatal flight, finally left the Bahamas Tuesday without talking. Aaliyah and her crew were supposed top fly back to Miami on this plane...the same one they flew in on. But the pilot says Aaliyah's crew was in a rush and wanted to leave one day early.
Lawrence: So instead of catching that original flight on Sunday, the crew chartered another plane back to Miami....the Cessna that never made it out of the Bahamas.
Witnesses say the plane crashed just after takeoff, about two hundred feet from the runway. The impact cracked the plane in two and ejected nearly all the passengers. Then the plane burst into flame.
The 22 year old singer already had a platinum album and Grammy nominations. But Aaliyah was ready to branch out.
Aaliyah starred in the action film Romeo Must Die and she recently won a major role in the upcoming sequel to The Matrix. In Los Angeles, fans left messages on a promotional poster and in New York, a giant mural was painted in the singer's honor.

The man who escaped from Amherst County Jail this afternoon is still missing.
19-year old Jason Scott Owen was last seen in the Dixie Airport Road area of the county.
At the time, he was in boxer shorts, a white tee shirt and had a black covering on his head. He was with two other young white men.

Health concerns have forced Lynchburg's American Legion hall to close its public swimming lake for the rest of the summer.

Post 16 officials say a large flock of Canadian geese have made the lake and surrounding park their home.
Geese droppings have made the area largely unusable, and the Lynchburg health department has received concerned phone calls about the situation.
The American Legion voluntarily closed the lake, which will be drained later this year.
Health officials say the droppings could cause high levels of fecal coliform bacteria in the water which could then lead to health problems in those exposed to it.
"No" health complaints related to the lake have been reported.

The gauge is under the Walnut Street Bridge-
It's been in use for more than 100-years and now sports satellite equipment.

The Roanoke site is one of 14 across Virginia with satellite technology.
