The doctor to funny man Bob Hope says the entertainer could be out of the hospital in a few days. The 98-year old Hope was admitted to a Burbank, California hospital over the weekend after coming down with bacterial pneumonia. David Dow has more.

The cash-crunched Internet company is edging closer to bankruptcy or a possible buyout since its lender demanded a 50 million dollar payment by Friday.
Cox, "Excite at Home's" local provider, says its been aware of the situation for months.
Cox says it is working to make sure customers will be switched to another provider if the payment isn't made by Friday.
No word yet on who that provider may be.

The two companies today announced the three billion dollar stock swap that will create the fifth largest pulp and paper company in the nation. The settlement gives landowners in 15 states -- including Virginia -- six thousand dollars per mile when fiber optic lines are installed.

Brownlee was appointed by U-S Attorney General John Ashcroft to fill the position until the Senate gets around to confirming Brownlee. The U-S attorney in Roanoke is the chief federal prosecutor, overseeing offices in Roanoke, Abingdon, and Charlottesville.

Roanoke's men's basketball team has added former Virginia Tech full scholarship guard Kenny Harrell to the roster.

Harrell, who has two years of eligibility after playing at Division II Shaw University in 2000, left Tech during the 1998-99 season after he was charged with firing an automatic weapon into the sky across from Cassell Coliseum. Ultimately, Kenny served community service and the incident is behind him.
Roanoke gets a player who was on track to make a huge impact for the Hokies, a clear Division I talent now in Division three in the ODAC.
