An unusual arson case is being tried this week in federal court.

The prosecutor calls Steven McIninch a firebug. He's accused of setting fires at two apartment complexes where he lived last year. Anna Zimmerman lost everything in her apartment at the Ridge Apartments in June, 2000. She and McIninch had had a relationship that ended the night of the fire. McIninch is being tried in federal court where he could get substantially more prison time if he's convicted.

Danville police are deciding whether a pizza delivery man acted in self defense when he shot a teenager who allegedly tried to rob him at gunpoint.

Authorities say James Lester had dropped off a pizza nearby when two men approached his car, held a gun to his neck and demanded money.

Officials say the First Virginia Bank in Christiansburg was held up around 11 a-m. The suspect was armed with a handgun and is believed to have fled in a burgundy colored sedan. He's described as a 6-foot tall white male in his 30's. The suspect was last seen wearing a gray, hooded sweatsuit. Authorities are combing the area on foot and using a K-9 unit to pick up a trail.

Grayson County authorities say they're investigating the death of a three-year-old boy. Sheriff Jerry Wilson says Dorian Cox fell down a wooden staircase last week. He died at a North Carolina hospital. Authorities say there's no history of child neglect or abuse in the boy's Troutdale household. The boy's body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Roanoke for an autopsy.

Another guilty plea today from one of those charged in that big federal moonshine case. A 71-year old Philadelphia man admitted accepting untaxed liquor from Ralph and Willie Hale. They're all among the 20 people indicted under Operation Lightning Strike. Seven more defendants remain set for trial, beginning Monday. The judge in the case today ruled William Helms cannot rely on the death-bed confession of his brother, Ramsey. Ramsey Helms allegedly said he was responsible for the offenses William's charged with. But Judge Sam Wilson ruled the statement is hearsay and not admissible.
