((Like a reliable machine, our bodies sometimes need a little maintenance. For some these repairs can mean surgery. This need may come from the everyday use of our bodies over a lifetime, while others may suffer a sports injury or be hurt in an accident. When the times comes for you have surgery, there are several steps that you can take so your procedure is safer and more comfortable. The most important thing you can do is talk to the doctor. Even if your personal physician recommends them, make sure the surgeon knows your medical history, your current medications, as well as your family's medical history. Next make sure you completely understand your surgical procedure. Ask questions about why you need the procedure and what the expected results may be. Ask the doctor about any complications that may arise. Finally the best way to get a fast start to a full recovery is to prepare yourself for the operation. Start building a healthy lifestyle before the surgery so you will be stronger and better prepared physically.
