Many Virginians have already begun to gather in prayer and mourning for victims and their families.

Jennifer Miele visited St. Johns Episcopal Church for an afternoon service today, Jen.
Keith, several members of St. Johns have been touched by this tragedy.

Mary Lou Trey planned on calling her son to wish him a happy birthday tonight.
Instead, she'll spend the day in church praying and on the phone trying just to get in touch with him.
He works as an insurance agent in the World Trade Center. [NAT SOUND] [RUNS05]
Reverend John Perris has been working diligently to bring his parish together in prayer.
He too has personal worries on his mind... his mother works for a law firm just blocks from the site of the initial attack.

The local Red Cross has put more than 50 volunteers on alert for a possible deployment to the disaster areas.
That comes as many residents are already turning out in full force to donate blood.

It's a humanitarian effort the Red Cross is hoping will save lives.

And encourages anyone who's at least 17 years old, 110-pounds -- and in good health to donate.
