Governor Jim Gilmore is taking time out today to join us from Richmond to offer some perspective on the situation.

He's the chairman of the task force on terrorism.

(Thanks for joining us. I understand you went to the Pentagon last night, and you've also visited the state trooper w

ho was injured there. Tell us some of what you've seen and heard over the last 24 hours.)

(I know that hindsight's 20-20, but looking back, do you see any areas that the task force may have overlooked?)

(Do you think people in general spend too much time worrying about cyber terrorism, as opposed to more traditional atta

cks like bombs or hijackings?)

(Obviously, security is extra tight all over the nation right now...any ideas how we can protect ourselves against terr

orism without becoming a land of martial law.... this seems to be quite a dilemma for leaders like yourself... )

(I understand the capitol is still on lockdown, yet you've been spreading the message that we should try to get back to

our normal lives--how are you explaining all of this to your own family?)

(And these attacks have certainly affected everyone emotionally-- but you yourself lost two friends in the ordeal. )

The nation's airports are expected to reopen at this hour but the F-A-A warns air travel won't be normal today.
For one thing, many airplanes are at the wrong airport. And the check-in process will take longer. Security has been tightened following four hijackings yesterday that led to the unprecedented suspension of air travel.

Things have apparently not returned to normal at the Roanoke Regional airport. That's where we find Shannon Young.

All U-S Markets are closed right now, but are expected to re-open tomorrow.
At least one analyst says, ironically enough, it won't be the attack that will send stocks tumbling when the exchange re-opens.

Other world markets are shaking at the moment, since they are doing without the New York Exchange.
Though the loss of life was great yesterday, the financial costs are starting to bear burden on insurance companies.
Published reports say the attacks on the Trade Centers did an estimated 10 billion dollars in damage.

Most Virginia colleges and universities are holding classes today. Security has been tightened at Virginia Military Institute.
Many students spent yesterday watching events unfold, or trying frantically to reach loved ones in New York and Washington.
And students from Middle Eastern cultures got a hard lesson in bitterness.
Virginia Tech officials told Middle Eastern students there to lay low for fear of retaliation.
Islamic students at The College of William and Mary were trying to clear misconceptions about their faith yesterday.
Right after the attack on the World Trade Center a religion professor led a discussion in her "Introduction to Islam" class, which includes Christian, Muslim and Jewish students.
She says the Muslim students realize there will be a backlash, and she says they're going to have to express their views against terrorism.
