Many people across the Commonwealth and the Country have been stepping up to help victims of September 11th's attack on America. And some employees at Joann's Fabrics have come up with an idea of their own. With a small contribution from customers, they are making blankets for victims.

Here with us today is Michelle Adcox, Dixie Grover and Daina (DANA) Cannito from JoAnn's Fabrics here in Roanoke. Thanks for joining us today. Now this is a unique program that is really beneficial to victims in New York and Arlington.
How do customers contribute to this program?
Now you really are using your gifts to give to others - How did you come up with the idea?
But all JoAnn Fabrics are not participating - is that correct?
How much does it cost to participate in this.
How many blankets do you hope to collect?
How long will you be collecting them?
Once again collections are being taken at the Hunting Hills Plaza and Crossroads Mall Stores in Roanoke and the store in Lynchburg. And the cost is less than ten dollars per blanket.

Additional support is now available for victims of September 11th's attack on America. President Bush has declared Virginia a disaster area. That means individuals and businesses are eligible for federal funding to help recover from the terrorist attack on the Pentagon. Bush issued a similar declaration for harder-hit New York City.
Assistance can include funds to help meet temporary housing needs ... grants for medical, funeral and other disaster-related expenses ... and low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration to cover losses not fully covered by insurance.
The declaration also makes unemployment benefits available.
