A multi-million-dollar riverfront development in Danville is threatened by a dispute between the two groups who are working to build it.

The project's developer, Scott Burton, declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy Tuesday.
He also sued Danville's historical society, claiming it interfered with the project.
Burton leases the old Dan River mill property from the historical society.

The historical society's president says the allegations in the lawsuit are false and that problems arose because Burton defaulted on the lease.
The society says Burton still owes back taxes and insurance on the property.

Officials in Blacksburg are searching for a bank robbery suspect. Authorities say a Hispanic male demanded money at the Virginia Tech Federal Credit Union just after 3 p-m yesterday. Police say the suspect did not show a weapon. He's described as 5 foot seven, 140-pounds with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black and red racing jacket.

A suspended Virginia Military Institute professor wanted on sex charges surrendered to police on Tuesday.

Authorities had been looking for Paul (peer-PAUL-ee) Pierpaoli Junior for about a week after the history professor was charged with carnal knowledge of a minor and using a computer to solicit sex with a minor.

He's been released on 20-thousand dollars bond, and will be allowed to return to his parents' home in South Carolina pending a preliminary hearing. An official with V-M-I says Pierpaoli has been suspended with pay pending an internal investigation.

The only company in the Roanoke Valley traded on NASDAQ hit a 52-week low yesterday.
Optical Cable Corporation closed below 2-dollars a share, down 98 percent from a year ago.
That comes after C-E-O Bob Kopstein was forced to sell massive amounts of the company's stock to use as collateral for other investments.
Optical Cable repurchased nearly seven million dollars worth of stock in August and September, an action many companies take to boost the price of their stock.
