A dire economic warning today from the Governor: Virginia's economy has taken "a major hit."

One woman was seriously injured in an accident in Bedford County tonight.

The accident happened in front of the Wal-Mart at about six tonight.. and tied up traffic on Route 4-60 for hours. Police say a woman driving a white station wagon turned the wrong way onto 4-60 hitting a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and police have not released her name or condition. A preliminary investigation said alcohol may have played a factor in the accident.

Officials say a fire that destroyed a house in southeast Roanoke was not an accident.

Investigators have ruled out accidental causes for the fire at 11th Street and Bullitt Avenue.
They say it started in the back of the building and spread throughout the rest of the house.

Authorities are looking into the possibility that his home was targeted because he's from the Middle East.

Federal authorities outlined their case in court against a Central Virginia resident... a man the government says is a leader in the violent Muslim extremist group, Al Fuqra. At the end of today's hearing, Vincente Rafael Pierre was ordered held without bond.

Pierre is charged with illegal purchase, possession and disposal of a single hand-gun. The charges date back three years, when he allegedly bought a 45 caliber pistol from a licensed gun dealer. But the indictment is clearly part of the government's urgent effort to piece together the larger puzzle of domestic terrorism in the United States. An Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent today testified to Pierre's involvement in Al Fuqra, an organization the government says is a dangerous fundamentalist group.
