((America's military power continues to move towards Afghanistan--the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk --the latest example of US "might"-- set sail from Japan.
Its flight deck was empty of a normal compliment of jets fighters--meaning-- the ship's ready to become a mobile operations base for special operations forces and their helicopters.
During an exclusive interview with CBS News, Secretary of State Colin Powell said the US and its growing alliance ... is still tightening the screws --diplomatically and militarily-- on the Taliban and terrorist Osama Bin Laden.

At the same time, the allies are also searching banking records around the globe. During a visit to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, President Bush said U-S officials have frozen millions of dollars in terrorists assets so far....

Officials believe the removal of some larger beams in the last few days-- has helped workers locate the remains.

A trooper says Viki Lynn Arrington was going the wrong direction on Route 460 Friday evening when she hit a motorcycle head-on.
The woman driving the motorcycle, Carol Elizabeth Minton, died the next morning at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
State Police charged Arrington with drunk driving after the accident. They say it's the third time she's been charged with D-U-I.
She's being held without bond.

Piedmont Airlines will take over for U-S Airways when the company drops jet service to Roanoke.

As of October 7th, US Airways will no longer fly 100-passenger jets into Roanoke Regional Airport.
Instead, its subsidiary- Piedmont Airlines, also known as US Airways Express, will replace those six daily flights with eight flights on smaller planes.
The change is part of the company's plan to cut costs in the wake of decreased travel demand.
But while US Airways is cutting back, US Airways EXPRESS is hiring.

((Charlottesville firefighters presented the red white and blue outside Scott Stadium while their New York brethren wore their colors on the sideline. Several N.Y.F.D staff spent a a few days with Al Groh and the team.

New fences are up in front of the entry gates. Searches were conducted and some bags were even confiscated. Many fans were late getting to their seats, but the new security system seems to have everyone' support while the kinks are worked out.

It's money coming in from across the ocean.
Soon after the attack, the American hospital in France began taking calls mostly from French people eager to make donations.
The calls prompted a special fund.. It's called I love New York.. Now prove it.
Many donations came with notes.... and pictures drawn by donor's children.
So far the fund has raised 61 thousand American dollars and the money is still pouring in.
