53- employees at Shaffer's Crossing will go on temporary furlough, beginning Tuesday.

Osama bin Laden's hiding place in Afghanistan may be secret, but his organization has apparently managed to produce a new video for the outside world.
[SUPER=04-Al Jazeera Television;]
The Arab satellite T-V station was the first to broadcast the tape, but didn't say how it obtained the video.
We also don't know whether the pictures were taken before or after the September 11th attacks.
The station DOES say the video shows a celebration of joint training exercises with a known Egyptian terrorist group, whose leader is also on the F-B-I's 10 most- wanted list.

Fifty three Norfolk Southern employees at Shaffer's Crossing will be temporarily laid off.
Over half of those to be furloughed are students and apprentices.
The rest include machinists, electricians, firemen and oilers -- all in the locomotive shops.
Those 53 employees will lose their jobs between October 9th and November 7th.
Norfolk Southern say the weakening economy is to blame for the furlough.

A state Supreme Court has ruled the use of the electric chair is unconstitutional. We'll have the details after this break,
and the racing world is mourning again, as one of Winston's up- and- coming drivers was killed last night at the at the Charlotte race track.
[music up full]
The big race weekend in Charlotte got off to an ominous start, as up-and-coming driver Blaise Alexander was killed during last night's ARCA series race at the Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Ironically, the late Dale Earnhardt's oldest son, Kerry, was involved in the fatal wreck.
[SUPER=03-Concord, NC/Last Night; :00]
Alexander had just tried to pass Earnhardt, when the two hit-- sending Alexander's car head-on into the outside wall in the tri-oval area.
Alexander's car bounced back into the infield grass, while Earnhardt's car flipped on its roof and caught on fire as it slid down the front stretch.
Earnhardt was able to climb out of his car and catch his breath on the extended pit road wall.
Alexander never regained consciousness after the crash.
Emergency workers say he was unresponsive during the 25 minutes they tried to revive him.
Alexander was 25 years old. He's the 7th stock car driver to die at the Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Death by electric chair is no more in Georgia--
The state's supreme court ruled today four to three, that the electric chair is unconstitutional, because it inflicts cruel and unusual punishment.
The Georgia legislature has made lethal injection an option -- just in case the court ruled this way.
Alabama and Nebraska are now the ONLY two states with the electric chair as the sole method of execution.
It marks the virtual end of a truce in the Middle East.

Florida Power and Light wants to build a 680 megawatt natural gas-fired plant between Danville and Chatham.
F-P-L held a public hearing last night in Dry Fork.
While there is apparently no major opposition to the project, some residents do have some concerns about pollution, noise, and traffic.
The White Oak Energy Center would be located on 128 acres of land off Dry Fork Road near the Pittsylvania County landfill.
County Leaders believe the project will provide a substantial tax base and help attract new businesses.
The plant would directly affect about twenty nearby homes and nearly 500 residents in the surrounding area.
