They say they support punishing the terrorists but want it done in a way that doesn't hurt the Afghanie people.

Several Naval Academy cadets passing by stopped to debate the issue with the protestors.
The demonstrators plan to continue protesting at different times throughout the week.

Yesterday's military actions in Afghanistan had an affect on the scheduled debate between Republican Mark Earley and Democrat Mark Warner as well.
The debate did NOT happen .... but organizers are still hopeful it can be rescheduled.

[TAKE SABATO BITE FS PINNACLE] Political analyst Larry Sabato, who was to moderate the debate, said quote -"We firmly believe that it is crucial for the citizens of Virginia to see the gubernatorial candidates in this forum, but we feel that it is necessary to postpone it to a later date in light of today's military efforts.

Meanwhile, the president of the Virginia Capital Correspondents Association, News 7's Ellen Qualls says ... quote-
"the substitution of the lunchtime event in Norfolk doesn't meet the criteria for a statewide audience. We hope that the Warner campaign will work with us to reschedule a new date."

The Earley campaign has said it will debate anytime anywhere.[7-11Voting]

If you're still planning to vote in next month's elections time is running out. Virginians have until 5 o'clock tomorrow to register to vote for the state's next governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and 100 members of the House of Delegates. Many local races are also on the ballot. Election Day is Tuesday, November 6.

Four people including two young children died in an accident in Pittsylvania County.

The accident happened on Route 640 near Java just after eight o'clock Saturday night. State Police say 26 year Anthony Davis was driving a 95 Hyundai when he lost control, swerved into the left lane and hit a 98 Dodge Ram Truck head-on. All four passengers in the Hyundai died, including a six year old boy and a three year old girl. None were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the Dodge Ram was taken to a Roanoke Hospital.

An accident was to blame for a major back-up on Interstate 81, but traffic is moving once again.

It happened just after three o'clock yesterday on the northbound side of I-81 at the Ironto exit.
State Police say traffic had slowed down when a tractor trailer hit another tractor trailer causing it to hit a jeep.

A hazmat crew was called in to clean up 150 gallons of diesel fuel.
The left lane remained closed for more than five hours, causing a backup of more than fifteen miles.

17 crews members were killed in the bombing-- including Pittsylvania County native Timothy Saunders. This Friday will mark the one year anniversary of the terrorist attack. To remember the victims-- a memorial will be dedicated at the Norfolk Naval Station. The memorial will feature a ten foot tall monolith encircled by 17 granite slabs.

Only about a 100 people turned out for Respect Life Sunday. It's an abortion protest that is held nationwide on the first Sunday of October ever year. In Roanoke, protesters silently lined the sidewalk on the corner of Orange Avenue and Williamson Road holding signs.
