The suspect in a Lynchburg murder and armed robbery is still at large.
Police are still searching for the murderer of 20- year- old Michael A. Mosley, who was shot to death Wednesday night, near a friend's car on Bedford Avenue.
Police say 24- year- old Christopher Brusant Smith approached the car and demanded money, then shot Mosley.
Two men inside the car handed over their wallets.
Smith is charged with murder, two counts of armed robbery and three counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony.
Anyone with information as to Smith's whereabouts is asked to call Lynchburg police.

The first BCS rankings of the season are out, and while there are few picky points, the rankings are basically just like most folks expected they would be in this initial week.

As you look at this poll - remember that the lower the number the better your ranking.
Defending national champ Oklahoma is number one, as expected. The Sooners and number two ranked Nebraska play this Saturday at Noon.
UCLA is third, Miami fourth and the Hokies are fifth.
As you can see there is a big disparity between the number posted for Oklahoma and Tech.
More on that in a second.
Note that Texas and Michigan, each with one loss are ahead of unbeaten Maryland in the 8 spot.
The BCS is based on four items - Poll Average, Strength Of Schedule, Team Losses and Quality wins.

The Hokies were hurt by two things. First their strength of schedule was rated 47th and one of the computers - Kenneth Massey's had Tech rated 17th.
One computer, however, had the Hokies 2nd.

Miami, the number one team in both of the polls, was fourth in this first BCS ranking because the Canes strength of schedule is rated just 92nd. And the Massey computer had the Canes ranked 11th.

There was a big upset in girls high school basketball last night as Lord Botetourt handed Fleming its first setback of the season in the Blue Ridge district.

Lord Botetourt under head coach Chuck Pound has been playing better and better each week. And last night in this rescheduled game they were able to put it all together.
The Cavs jump on the Colonels early as Amber Graham hits the three pointer. It's five to nothing and they would never look back.
Fleming's big inside star Olivia Grant gets free underneath and turns Kim Hairington's assist into a basket. She gets the hoop and the harm.
But back comes Botetourt. Renee Guilliams will stop and pop the jumper. Lord Botetourt led by 15 points at the half time break. Fleming coach Cynthia Brown was fit to be tied.
Fleming rallies with 46 ticks left on the clock and gets to within two points as Grant scores again for the Colonels.

Jim Stagnitta, who has guided Washington & Lee lacrosse to a dozen straight winning seasons is leaving the Generals for a major promotion.
Stagnitta has been hired as the new head coach at division one Rutgers.
He replaced Dennis Daly in November of 1989 and never looked back at W &L.

The winner's crew chief got the biggest fine. Tony Eury was fined $25 thousand dollars because Dale Earnhardt Junior's winning car was one 18th of an inch to low.

Well-- there's a new toe champ.
A Medford Oregon woman saw the same story on her local station and realized that her cat Muffy not only went toe to toe with the Michigan cat, but
in fact, should be declared the new champion.
Muffy has 28 toes.
Her owner is trying to contact the Guiness people to set the record straight.
