A Northwest Roanoke teenager who was thrown from the back of a car has died from her injuries.
Roanoke Police say 15-year-old Brittany Anthony was sitting on the trunk of a friend's car, when her friend pulled away.
Anthony fell onto the pavement, injuring her head and neck.
Police say the 17-year-old driver said she did NOT know the girl was sitting on the trunk.
Anthony was a student at William Fleming High School.

The Roanoke Dazzle has selected former G.W. Danville star Tyrone Barksdale as the local player who will be entered into the NBDL draft October 26th through November third.

Barksdale tried out at Roanoke College October 14th. The 6' foot 1 point guard attended the University of Indianapolis for the 1996-97 season where he averaged 18 points a game along with four assists.

Now, Barksdale will attend the draft and the Central Training camp in Swanee, Georgia at the end of October. He is one of 150 players from which the NBDL will draw it's core roster for the teams. One other note, the players will work out at the Winners Circle Sports Academy owned by Ralph Sampson.

((Just over a week ago Jake Houseright underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to have the meniscus cartilage trimmed. This ultrasound treatment stimulates the healing process, but Houseright already is recovering so well, that he has been cleared to play the entire game against Syracuse.
