From the death of a military leader on the front lines of Afghanistan to the funeral of a U-S postal worker who unwittingly found himself in the crosshairs of the Anthrax war. Thomas Morris was laid to rest in Washington after inhaling the bacteria. Post offices from Washington and New Jersey have been shut down after traces of Anthrax were found-but in New York a facility where four sorting machines like these were found to be contaminated-the building remains open.

The Postal Union is suing to shut it down. The post office says its safe. With Anthrax now apparently the lethal weapon for terrorists on American soil President Bush Friday signed into law an anti-terrorism inititiative giving police much broader power.

The Henry County Sheriff's Department is investigating two fatal accidents.
In the first, 85 year old Robert LeRoy Oliver of Ridgeway was killed while driving along Route 220. Investigators say he made a left turn .. into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
In the second, 21 year old Domingo Evaristo Lopez-Aparacio lost his life after his car ran off state route 1141 and overturned, throwing him out.

Brush fires have been breaking out all across central and southwest Virginia this week.
Dozens of volunteer firefighters are still struggling to contain a large fire that's been burning in the western end of Appomattox County.

Two New York City firefighters are in Roanoke .. to pick up a sizable check for families of their fallen comrades.

For the last six weeks, these two New York City firefighters have worked day and night at the World Trade Center site.

At a ceremony at the fallen firefighter memorial in downtown Roanoke, hundreds of firefighters came out Friday afternoon to present the check and to say thanks.
