The two out-of-state young adults died late this morning after being delivered to the Family Practice Care Center in West Salem. Police say the two spent the night at a Salem inn with friends who sought help when the pair apparently failed to wake up after a night of partying.

A Pennsylvania jury is deliberating today whether to impose the death penalty on a couple who killed a college student and hid her body in Floyd County.

William Housman of Newville, Pennsylvania and Beth Ann Markman were convicted of first-degree murder last week.

They hid 18-year-old Leslie Rae White's body in an abandoned car on property owned by Houseman's mother in Floyd County.

Two young girls were hit by a car as they crossed Hershberger Road in Roanoke this afternoon.
Police say the girls, ages eight and ten, were taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. There's no word on their conditions.
The driver of the car, Steven Crawford of Roanoke is charged with disregarding a traffic signal.

Roanoke County Supervisor Harry Nickens is in the running for a new post in Alabama, and today his opponent said the voters should consider that as they make their choice at the polls.

The Roanoke County fiber optic manufacturer gave a sneak peak at its earnings report saying that net sales exceeded 60 million dollars -- that's nearly three million more than last year.
The company also adopted a so-called "Shareholder Rights Plan" -- a tactic that makes Optical Cable less appealing as a possible takeover target.
Optical Cable's share price is up six cents from Friday.
Meantime, President Bob Kopstein is at a financial conference in California, in search of potential investors.
