Even if the northern alliance is making progress there, the war is clearly not over.

IT IS HARD TO TELL WHAT THESE PICTURES ARE SHOWING, ALTHOUGH ONE NEWS AGENCY CLAIMS IT IS THE TALIBAN SURRENDERING IN KUNDUZ. ALTHOUGH A SENIOR COMMANDER OF THE NORTHERN ALLIANCE CLAIMS TALIBAN OFFICERS HAVE AGREED TO HAND OVER ALL FOREIGN FIGHTERS, ANOTHER REPORT SAYS THE TALKS HAVE FAILED AND THE NORTHERN ALLIANCE IS STORMING INTO KUNDUZ. IT ISN'T CLEAR WHETHER WORD OF THE NEGOTIATIONS REACHED KUNDUZ BEFORE FIGHTING RESUMED.
IN SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN, U-S WARPLANES BACKED BY OPPOSITION TRIBES CONTINUE TO POUND TALIBAN TROOPS DEFENDING THEIR SPIRITUAL CAPITOL OF KANDAHAR. MORE U.S. TROOPS ARE POISED OFF THE COAST OF PAKISTAN WIATING FOR THE SIGNAL TO MOVE IN.

A blast in a Gaza Strip refugee camp killed four Palestinian children as they walked to school today.
A Palestinian security official says one of the kids kicked an unexploded Israeli tank shell, setting it off.
But Israeli officials say it might have been Palestinian explosives.
Both sides are also connecting the incident to a new U-S effort to enforce a cease-fire.
Two U-S mediators are expected in the region next week.
