Tires became a concern when the weather in New Hampshire was much warmer than expected.
But Points champion Jeff Gordon had no problems with tires. He cruised all day leading 257 of the 300 laps.
Then with 17 laps to go and the cars bumper to bumper Robby Gordon hit Jeff in the rear causing him to spin and hit Mike Wallace in the number 12 car.
Gordon was just a little bit upset and he retaliates by hitting Robby in the rear while the cars were running under the caution flag.
Robby would hold on and take the checkered flag for his first Winston Cup win but Jeff was not to happy about the incident that probably caused him the race.

Liberty's defensive unit came into the game the fifth worst in the nation, but they held the Dukes scoreless through the first half..
L-U was without its senior signal caller Biff Parsons who had a sprained wrist..
It was also a homecoming of sorts for former Liberty HIGH SCHOOL star Robert Carson playing his final game in a Dukes uniform..
After an exchange of turnovers, the Flames would strike first.. J.K. Scott finds Travis Burns.. Burns with the nice move to get free, 26 yards for the score and it's 7-nothing Liberty..
J-M-U would answer, the handoff goes to number 20, Rondell Bradley, he finds a hole and he's gone.. 65 yards to tie it up at 7 midway through the third quarter..
Ken Karcher on the sidelines, wondering how to motivate his troops..
J-M-U with the ball again, Mike Connelly would call his own number six times on this drive, the last one would be good for a 15- yard score, Dukes on top 14-7..
