((The Green River killer was blamed for the deaths of 49 Pacific Northwest women in the early 1980's. Friday, two decades later, police announced they had made an arrest in connection with the deaths of FOUR of the women.
Dave Reichert, King County WA Sheriff; This is the most exciting day in my career. Police say they arrested Gary Leon Ridgeway, a truck driver who lives in suburban Seattle. He's being investigated for the deaths of the four women...all found murdered in the Green River in 1982 and 1983. The break in the case, coming from high technology forensics. The Washington state crime lab was able to link ridgeway's dna to three of the 4 victims... Police say the Green River Killer hunted his victims from Seattle's red-light district. Most were prostitutes or runaways. An FBI profiler saying the killer was probably a white man in his 30s or 40s and that he who had issues with women. We have a lot of work to do....to investigate these other cases...responsible for all those. Prosecutors say charges may be filed as early as next week. Manuel Gallegus CBS News.))

((There's a Beatles' song for just about every occasion. People singing; 'I heard the news today, Oh boy...' And today the news was bad. They gathered at the John Lennon memorial in New York to mark the death of another Beatle. And then there were two. George Harrison's death -- unlike Lennon's -- was neither sudden nor violent nor shocking. His religious conviction he had said -- expressed in his first solo hit single -- had prepared him for death. Of all the Beatles, George Harrison hadn't been the brash one, or the cute one, or the funny one. He'd been the thoughtful one, seeking not fame, but answers. Harrison: THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS TO FIND OUT WHO AM I. WHY AM I HERE, AND WHERE AM I GOING? THAT'S WHAT WE NEED ANSWERING And Harrison, as his friends knew, had found those answers. PAUL MCCARTNEY: I'M JUST PRIVILEGED TO HAVE KNOWN HIM, AND I LOVE HIM LIKE HE'S MY BROTHER, IT'S A VERY SAD DAY FOR ME AND ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE. Harrison: 'I want a cigarette' It's had been no secret that George Harrison was dying. The cigarette gags, amusing when he was young, had long since stopped being funny. He had had throat, then lung then brain cancer. And had made only rare public appearances in recent years. Living a reclusive life on the English estate where he was almost killed by a knife wielding attacker two years ago. Yet the man they called the quiet Beatle, the reluctant Beatle, was today being given the credit he is due. HE was the musical backbone of the group, playing the riffs the whole world played air guitar to. HIS was the curiosity that led the group on its journey toward eastern mysticism -- dragging a generation along on its own magical mystery tour. HE was the songwriter of enduring tunes like Something -- that even Sinatra had called the best love song of the past fifty years. If the Beatles provided the soundtrack for a generation, Harrison also provided the theme songs for his own life. Harrison: IT DOESN'T TAKE LONG FROM 17 TO BEING 57, 40 YEARS JUST GOES LIKE THAT. George Harrison never saw himself as more than he was, a working class rocker from Liverpool who was good enough and lucky enough to become famous. And now mourned around the world.
