She drove the wrong way for the better part of a mile until striking a northbound car with two adults and two children inside near Elm Avenue, just after seven.
Rescuers had to pry open at least one vehicle to get some of the victims out.
The accident blocked two of the three northbound lanes as they approached Elm Avenue .. and backed up traffic in both directions.
We have no further word on the victims' names or conditions.

Less than two hours later, another accident tied up Route 460 east of the the city .. near Cloverdale Road. County police tell us a van, a pickup truck and a car were involved in this one .. but since vehicles came to rest in both directions of traffic, investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what happened.
No word yet on injuries. Traffic was backed up both ways on the busy roadway until the wreckage was cleared away.

James Robert Kibler passed away Friday, ending 21 years of service to the town.

The Cornhuskers finished second to Miami in the final B-C-S standings which sends the two teams to the Rose Bowl. Nebraska edged out Big 12 champion Colorado in the standings to earn the Rose Bowl berth.

Roanoke firefighters are at the scene of a house fire that broke out in the last 40 minutes at 17th and Center Streets. The first arriving units reported heavy flames coming from the home.
Reports from the scene say an elderly woman who lived there was brought out safely. No word yet on the cause .. or a damage estimate.
