O'Leary has admitted falsifying his credentials both academically and athletically. O'Leary claimed he earned a masters degree at New York University but, according to NYU records, he never did.
His resume also indicated that he played football for three years at the University of New Hampshire. In fact, he never played a single game for the school.
Notre Dame's athletic director said the breach of trust made it impossible for the school to keep O'Leary. The 55-year-old coach guided Georgia Tech to five straight bowls, before leaving for South Bend.
