Good evening everybody and welcome to Friday Football Extra. Happy Holidays to each and every one of you out there as we get set to wrap up another year of Friday Football Extra.

Tonight marks our 17th and final show of the season, and in the next half hour we'll give you an opportunity to meet the winners from our postseason awards banquet held earlier this week.
[GRAPHIC=STAGG BOWL]

We will also talk about tomorrow's Stagg Party at Salem Stadium between Mt. Union and the Bridgewater College Eagles.

[GO TO FULL SCREEN WIN BEALE] But we begin by handing out our top coach of the year honor for this past season. Coaches all over the viewing area picked Floyd County's Winfred Beale as Friday Football Extra's overall coach of the year.

For that reason, the Chargers are an easy selection as Friday Football Extra's team of the year.

Each year we send out ballots to coaches throughout the area and let them select our coach of the year winners. [go to CHRIS JONES PINNACLE] In Group A - Bath County's Chris Jones beat out a "who's who" of coaches in the Three Rivers district alone to take home this honor for the second straight season.

Welcome back to our season finale here on Friday Football Extra. Once again this year, we were proud to present the Noel C. Taylor Scholar Athlete Award. The Award carries with it a two-thousand-dollar scholarship award. [Spence Graphic] This year's recipient is Floyd County quarterback Isaac Spence, who along with leading his Buffaloes to the Group A; Division 2 Championship Game is a leader in the classroom as well.

Spence helped his Buffaloes rebound from a 4-and-6 record in 2000 to a 12-and-2 record and the state championship game this season. He did all of that while posting a 4-point-Oh grade point average. Spence is undecided on his college plans, but he says that after Saturday's state championship loss, he's hoping to get a chance to play football somewhere next season.

((Mount Union is from Alliance, Ohio - however, this team plays like its from a another planet. The Purple Raiders have won 81 of their last 82 games and they currently have the nation's longest winning streak at 27 straight. Like Mount Union, Bridgewater is unbeaten this season - but unlike the Purple Raiders the Eagles have almost no tradition of success. ((WAYNE BURROW:)) The Eagles and the Purple Raiders met today at Salem Civic Center to share nourishment during the Friday Football Extra Championship luncheon. The teams shared their admiration and respect for each other. But for Bridgewater it's so much more than that. It's the chance to be on a national stage for something no one on campus even paid attention to ten years ago.))
