Israeli tanks and troops moved in early today, searching villages and making arrests.
Officials say six Palestinian police officers were killed during clashes in one of the villages.

The University of Notre Dame will need to find yet another football coach.
George O'Leary, who accepted the job less than a week ago, has resigned.
He says he has personally embarassed the school.

O'Leary admits he falsified his background on his resume when he claimed he played football for three years at the University of New Hampshire. In fact, he never played a single game for the school.
Notre Dame's athletic director said the breach of trust made it impossible for the school to keep O'Leary.
The 55-year-old coach guided Georgia Tech to five straight bowls, before leaving for South Bend.

Each eligible family gets to select new clothing, toys, household items, food, and other gifts.
This year, the Community Christmas store expects to help nearly six hundred needy families in the Roanoke Valley.

Taking a look at what other schools in our region will get under the plan... Radford University is allotted just under 30-million. The Virginia Community College System, which runs about 23 community colleges around the state will get 139-million. And Virginia Military Institute can expect over 31-million dollars. Voters need to approve two-thirds of the plan and the General Assembly would have to pass the budget.

The Associated Press has declared Maryland's Ralph Friedgen as college football coach of the year.

Two weeks ago, the school broke the news that Chris Morris would be its basketball coach. Last week, Steve Magenbauer was named the school's new football coach. And last night, another familiar name in the Roanoke Valley was hired as athletic director.
