Two Roanoke city police cars were totaled in an early- morning accident.

It happened just before two this morning on Williamson Road.
Authorities say three officers were responding to reports of a possible stolen vehicle from Henry County.
The first responding officer determined that the vehicle was not stolen, and ended the pursuit.
But the other two officers kept going.

Alley says Officer Hughes was treated and released from Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Danville police are looking for two suspects involved in an incident where a man was shot in the face. 18 year old Montae (mon-TAY) Deshaun Jackson was wounded following a disagreement on the two-hundred block of Stuart Street yesterday morning. Jackson was taken to U-V-A Medical center for surgery. The investigation is continuing.

Also, the Richmond Times Dispatch is reporting that Gilmore will propose to advance the car tax cut from 70 percent to 100 percent in two years, despite a budget deficit nearing a billion dollars. The tax cut was supposed to be fully implemented next year, but Gilmore has already said that won't be possible because of the state's budget woes. Gilmore leaves office on January 12th. Governor-elect Mark Warner has promised to eliminate the tax before his four-year term ends.

Another successful holiday season is under wraps for The Roanoke Valley's Community Christmas store.

The store helped nearly six hundred needy families in the Roanoke Valley this year, a record for the charity.
Each eligible family got the chance to shop for all new items such as toys, clothing, food, and other gifts.
The store was opened Friday and Saturday in the old CVS building at Cave Spring Corners.
This will be the last year the Community Christmas Store operates from that building.
A new location has yet to be found.

The group held its annual "Toy Storm 2001" fundraiser to benefit the Toys for Tots program.
The Marines collected new unwrapped toys for 72 hours straight at the Tanglewood Mall from Friday to Sunday afternoon.
