A head-on collision in Salem sends two Roanoke College students to the hospital.

Police say Mary Cunney ran a red light at the intersection of Electric Road and Keagy Road... striking another car head- on.
Cunney and a passenger were taken to Roanoke Memorial.
Police say the two Roanoke College students suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the other car was also hurt---though not as seriously.
Authorities say charges are pending against Cunney.

State police say 35- year old Leslie Marie Ferguson's car collided with a pick-up truck on Route 619 last night.
Ferguson and her three daughters were injured...
State police say the children were NOT wearing seat belts-- and the nine- year old was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial.
The driver of the truck was NOT seriously injured.
State police say charges are pending against the mother-- for passing in a "no passing" zone.

Tuesday night's win for Creigh Deeds to the Virginia Senate cleared the way for Shuler's campaign.
Shuler represented Blacksburg for eight-years before losing to Republican Dave Nutter in the re-drawn 7th District.
A special election is set for January 8th.

A dispute outside a Roanoke restaurant leaves two people injured.

Police say 24- year old Corinthia King stabbed her 40- year old mother, Brenda King outside the China Lite restaurant on Melrose Avenue yesterday.
Police say Corinthia King also stabbed her mother's companion, Jesse Purdue.
The victims were taken to the hospital... with multiple stab wounds to the back.
Police say the younger King has been charged with two counts of malicious wounding.

The governor's expansion plans from its budget may provide some needed funds.

Yesterday, Governor Gilmore recommended ten million dollars to help the project along.
